With almost everyone that’s anyone looking to impress this week, Lenovo is certainly turning a lot of heads with its IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, a portable solution made up of a tablet and a docking station that’s basically an ultra-thin without a display.
Pictured below, the system’s ’components’ are a 11.6-inch (1366x768) multi-touch tablet powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, and a dock boasting a 1.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo U4100 CPU, up to 4GB of RAM, GMA graphics and a solid state drive going up to 128GB in capacity. Put them together and you have a thin laptop, separately, you have a touch tablet.
The tablet runs the Skylight Linux interface but, once docked, it will display Windows 7 as that’s the OS of the laptop part of the U1 Hybrid. The device also boasts a 1.3 megapixel webcam and offer WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. Both parts are said to offer a battery life of up to 8 hours.
Those interested will have to wait quite a while for the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid as it is scheduled to debut on June 1st with a price tag of $999.
