Samsung Electronics have launched production of its innovative 3D LED TVs at the company’s plant in Kaluga, Russia.

3D technologies have truly revolutionized the entertainment industry, with 3D movies gaining ever-greater popularity and setting new records at the box-office. They allow viewers to experience greater realism and achieve a completely new level of involvement in the events occurring on the screen.

Having predicted a surge in the popularity of 3D technologies, Samsung became one of the first companies in the world to offer products supporting 3D images. Its first 3D TV went on sale in 2001 and was followed by a long sequence of new product launches from the company that was steadfastly establishing its superiority in the 3D sector: 2008 - the world’s first 3D plasma TV, 2009 - the first Russian-made 3D TV, 2010 - the world’s first 3D LED TV.

Kaluga plant will produce 3D LED TVs of 7000 series with screen sizes of 40 and 46 inches. Samsung’s first and least-expensive 3D-compatible TV, the 7000 edge-lit LED-based
LCD offers a 240Hz refresh rate and all of the Internet features found on less-expensive models. A couple of 3D-specific tweaks are provided, including a depth adjustment that allows you to add more or less of a 3D effect with native 3D content. 2D material can also be "converted" to 3D using the built-in system. Glasses cost extra, but are required for 3D.

3D LED TVs of 7000 series will be available from April.
