Dell Set to Launch 3D Notebook Using Wistron Solution

Dell is expected to launch a 3D notebook using Wistron's polarizer solution in October 2010 and will target mainstream market.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) also recently announced its 17-inch Envy 3D notebook featuring AMD's ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 GPU for 3D effects with shutter glasses. The notebook uses Intel's Core i7 processor and will be priced about US$2,000 targeting the year-end holiday season.

With the two US-based PC brands joining the 3D notebook market, plus the existing Asia-based players including Acer, Asustek Computer, Lenovo, Toshiba, Micro-Star International (MSI) and LG Display, it indicates that most PC brands are interested in testing the water.

Currently, Asustek, Toshiba, Acer and MSI are using Nvidia's solution for their 3D notebooks, HP is using AMD's solution, while Wistron's solution is supported by Lenovo and Dell, as well as Acer and MSI.
