Samsung Electronics Develops 70 "UD (Ultra Definition) 240Hz LCD Panel Last news
Samsung Electronics has previewed a new large, high resolution prototype display yet again. This time, it’s the world’s first 70-inch “Ultra Definition” 240Hz 3DTV. Yes, you’re starting to get used to Full HD displays with 1920 x 1080 resolutions, so now we introduce you to UD, which is Ultra Definition. That’s 3840 x 2160 pixels in your 70-inch displays, which will easily pawn your Full HD 3DTV like some bug.
The 70″ display has a refresh rate of 240Hz, which be very nice for movie watching but the models coming up later are going to be even better because they are going to feature a refresh rate of 480Hz! That is something quite unthinkable in consumer panels right now. Also, the current refresh rate is enough to give this panel the UD (Ultra Definition) grade of performance, which is bound to be a very sharp and clear viewing experience. The new panel is filled with over 800 million pixels — that’s a neat 4-times that of True HD resolution. That should give you some perspective on how sharp this panel really is. And now the only concern is going to be finding content that is not HD but UD.
Samsung achieved this feat by substituting the usual silicon-based TFT technology with oxide semi-conductor technology.
