Google spills the beans on Samsung's Chrome OS netbook
As exposed by a code.google.com page, Samsung has been working on a Chrome OS-based netbook codenamed 'Alex' which could see the light of day this summer. The web page detailing the device has been removed but fortunately for us, the specs listed were noted down.
Samsung's netbook features a display of unknown size (it could be 12.1-inch) but with a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, a 1.5 GHz Atom N550 (dual-core) processor, 2GB of RAM, a SanDisk P4 small form factor SSD, a Qualcomm Gobi 3G modem, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, a built-in webcam, a card reader, USB ports, and a D-Sub outputs.
Reports claim that Google partners (Acer, Samsung, others) may finally reveal their Chrome OS-based solutions at the Google I/O conference which is scheduled for May 10-11. Alex could be just weeks away from an official unveiling.
