Market research indicated that 2011 global flat-panel TV shipments reached 222 million units, up 7.5% on year. In particular, Samsung accounted for 20% of the market share, ranking at number one. LG accounted for 13% while Sony accounted for 9%. The total market share of China's top six TV brands was 21%, up from 17% in 2010. Studies showed that shipments of LCD TVs from China-based firms in 2011 grew by 34% on average due to growth in the domestic market. Shipments from TCL reached 9.4 million units, up by 75% on year. TCL shipments are expected to surpass 10 million units in 2012. Samsung and LG shipments grew by 12% and 6% on year respectively. Sony showed an on-year decrease of 6%. Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic all reached shipments above 10 million unit. |
