A total of 55 million notebooks will be shipped globally during the second quarter of 2012, increasing 17.6% on quarter and 9.5% on year, according to a forecast by Digitimes Research.
Hewlett-Packard will be the largest vendor with shipments of 10 million notebooks in the quarter, followed by Lenovo with 8.425 million units, Acer with 7.4 million, Asustek Computer with 6.2 million, Dell with 5.5 million, Toshiba with 4.565 million, Apple with 4.1 million and Samsung Electronics with 2.9 million units.
ODMs Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics and Pegatron will ship 15 million, 10 million and five million notebooks respectively in the quarter.
Global shipments in the whole year of 2012 are projected at 236 million notebooks.
