Total unit sales of Security Cables through Distribution were down by -10% year-on-year during May 2012 in Western Europe. Despite this decline, Kensington saw sales rise +4%, taking their already dominant market share from 51% to 59%. Targus and HP continued to compete for 2nd place, ending May with 8% and 6% share respectively.
Kensington’s success was largely driven by the surge in sales of the ‘Combination Ultra Laptop Lock’ which was the company’s top seller in May with unit sales up by nearly 30 times on January figures, again driven by average selling prices (EUR) falling by almost -40% over the same period.
