Intel pushes Celeron, Atom CPUs to defend the entry-level desktop market in 2013

Intel plans to maintain supply of its Atom D2550 and D2500 as well as Celeron 847 and 807 processors to defend the entry-level desktop market in 2013 with the CPUs' life-cycles set to last at least until the third quarter of 2013, according to sources from PC players.

The Atom D2550 and D2500 are paired with NM10 chipsets, while the Celeron 847 (1.1GHz) and Celeron 807 (1.5GHz) are paired with NM70 chipsets and feature a power consumption of 17W, the sources noted.

Intel will enter the 22nm Haswell architecture generation in April of 2013 and the new platform is expected to see improvement in both power consumption and performance, compared to the existing platform.
