Lenovo and Hewlett-Packard (HP) are expected to see better shipment performance than Acer and Asustek Computer in January 2013 mainly because Lenovo will see strong demand in China before the 2013 Lunar New Year and January is the last month of HP's 2012 fiscal year, for which the company is expected to place strong orders to push its quarterly shipments, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
Since the first quarter is the traditional slow season, while Windows 8 is likely to take some time before heating up, the sources expect most notebook vendors to suffer from declining performance in the first quarter of 2013.
However, among first-tier notebook brands, only Apple is expected to achieve flat on-quarter performance in the first quarter of 2013 due to strong demand for its MacBook series products.
