Tablets were one of the major spotlights at IFA 2013 with PC and smartphone brand vendors all showcasing their latest tablet innovations at the show. Digitimes Research has taken a look at these new tablet products and found several new trends for the latest development of tablet products.

The proportion of 8-inch models has increased. Thinner-bezel models are a main focus in the product lineups of Asustek Computer and LG Electronics.

Tablet brand vendors are trying to differentiate their products from competitiors'. Samsung Electronics is eyeing the education segment with its advantages in software/hardware integration; Lenovo has released an ultra-thin entry-level tablet model.

Brand vendors are bringing down the prices for large-size tablets, Asustek, Acer and Lenovo being the most aggressive in offering low-price devices.

Intel's Bay Trail platform will benefit Windows-based tablets, but only in large-size models. The platform can provide only limited help to small-size models, Digitimes Research believes.
