Taiwan market: Samsung sees strong demand for high-end tablets

Samsung Taiwan will focus on pushing high-end tablets in 2014 and expects its products' advantages over display resolution and thin-and-light industrial design to help it stay as the largest tablet vendor in Taiwan, according to Andy Tu, general manager of Samsung's mobile communication business in Taiwan

Samsung has launched its Tab S-series tablets featuring a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 by 1600, in Taiwan
Since tablets are always seeing strong demand from the student group, Tu expects demand during the summer vacation as well as back-to-school season to rise strongly. The opening of 4G services in Taiwan also have a chance of prompting consumers to purchase new tablets, Tu added.

As for smartphones, Samsung saw stable growth in Galaxy S5 sales in April and May and expects Taiwan's smartphone market in June to see better performance than May. August is expected to be the peak of the Taiwan's smartphone sales in 2014.
