Lenovo ships 16 million PCs in 4Q14
Lenovo shipped 16 million desktops and notebooks globally during the fourth quarter of 2014, increasing 4.9% on year, and generating a global market share of 20%, according to the company's financial report for the third-quarter of fiscal 2014-2015 (the fourth quarter of 2014).
Lenovo recorded consolidated revenues of US$14.1 billion, gross margin of 14.9%, net operating profit of US$325 million and net profit of US$253 million for the quarter. Of consolidated revenues, US$9.2 billion (65.2%) came from PC sales, US$3.4 billion (24.1%) from smartphones and tablets and US$1.2 billion (8.5%) from servers, storage devices, software and services to enterprise users.
Lenovo shipped 24.7 million smartphones under its Lenovo and Motorola brands in the quarter, hiking 78% on year and reaching a global market share of nearly 6.6%. In the same period, Lenovo shipped 3.7 million tablets with on-year growth of 9% and a global market share of 4.8%.
