Notebook brand vendors strengthening high-end product lines

digitimesSeeing that Microsoft plans to push Surface Book into the high-end segment, first-tier notebook brand vendors have started strengthening the quality and design of their high-end product lines, looking to expand their competitiveness in the segment, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Asustek Computer has recently launched two inexpensive transformer 2-in-1 devices, the 10.1-inch T100HA and the 11.6-inch TP200SA, and has also upgraded the specifications of several higher-end 2-in-1s, looking to gain shares from the high-end segment.

However, with demand for 2-in-1s growing in a pace much slower than expected, the sources believe the brand vendors are likely to return to price competition for the year-end holidays.
