The 2009 Plasma 8 Series is Samsungs 2009 expansion to their plasma display line-up, introducing this new flagship line that distinguishes itself with its ultra-thin design.
Coming in at just over an inch thick (1.1") these sets are the thinnest plasmas for the first half of 2009 that contain a built-in TV tuner.
Outside of cabinet thickness the features and specifications are nearly identical to the lower end and lesser expensive 2009 Series 6 Plasmas: featuring the same expanded Internet@TV connectivity that offers video streaming and Yahoo widgets, alongside a new glass filter that Samsung claims enhances picture quality while reducing glare.
For 2009 Samsung has made their new plasmas more energy efficient with both the 6 and 8 Series lines meeting Energy Star 3.0 standards.
The Plasma Series 8 will be available in May in the 50” and 58” sizes.
