Samsung Boosts Sale of TVs Produced in Russia
Share of Samsung TVs produced at companys Russian plant in Kaluga region is constantly increasing.
Before the official start of the plant in August 2008, this share amounted to 20/3% increasing to 61/2% in November. Currently it amounts to 83%, the plant works at full swing 90 to 95% of domestic demand will be covered by TVs produced in Kaluga. Moreover, the plant will produce the whole range of Samsung tellies, making 35 model of LCD-TVs, 9 models of plasma TVs, and 36 models of LCD-monitors, as well as the newest 3D plasmas. Thus, the full lineup will consist of 78 models and will further expand.
There are plans to expand TV exports to the CIS, including Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
In 2009, the plant will produce 1.7m units, 2.4m in 2010 and 2.8m in 2011, increasing production 65% as compared to 2009. Current localization level of the production is 33% adjusted to LCD and plasma panels supplied (77% not adjusted).
Samsung’s total investments in TV plant construction, as well as nearby logistics center and TV case production plant in Kaluga region, will amount to more than $200m by the end of 2009, making Samsung one of the biggest investors in Russia.
