Many notebook brand vendors are planning to release 12-inch notebooks for 2015 and expect the 12-inch product segment to enjoy the fastest growth for the year, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
Apple's upcoming MacBook Air is expected to adopt a 12-inch Retina display, looking to create a new product line aside its existing 11- and 13-inch MacBook Airs.
Asustek Computer's recently unveiled Transformer Book T300 Chi also adopts a 12.5-inch display.
With vendors having been increasing their smartphone sizes, many vendors have already shifted their focuses from 11-inch 2-in-1 devices to 12-inch ones to avoid from being impacted.
Intel is also said to have adjusted its roadmap and will cooperate with notebook vendors to develop 12-inch 2-in-1 devices. In addition to sub-US$399 models using Atom, Celeron and Pentium processors, Intel is also pushing Core M-based models priced below US$699.
