Toshiba Delivers Positive Outlook for SSD Market over Next Two Years
Toshiba has recently expressed its optimism about wider NAND flash deployment in solid-state drive (SSD) applications over the next two years.
The penetration of SSDs is expected to deepen further in notebook PC and handheld device applications in the coming few years.
Though Toshiba has decided to postponed construction of two 12-inch chip plants, the NAND flash memory player specialist intends to restore market confidence by highlighting monthly shipment growth of its SSDs in 2009 and 2010. The company anticipates that monthly shipments will grow to 100,000 SSDs between April and September, 2009, and reach the 600,000 mark by 2010.
