Samsung Electronics Gets 46 Awards at CES 2009

Samsung is a world leader in innovations, which is proved by a big number of CES awards for innovative products in different categories. Six models of mobile phones, seven type of accessories for them, six HDTV-sets, two laser printers, four digital cameras, two camcorders, one LCD-monitor, a professional video-wall, ultra-compact laptop, solid state drive, an application processor and a number of other products were presented to public and honored by the international CES exhibition from November 9 to November 11, 2008 in Las Vegas.

“Samsung aims to be a permanent leader in the consumer electronics market introducing cutting-edge technologies and bringing a bright design to its models. 46 awards from Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in different categories is the highest recognition of our work, said Dong Jin Oh, president and CEO Samsung Electronics America. “These prestigious awards give us a new impetus to create more advanced devices, which bring more joy and comfort to users.”

Being a leader in its field, Samsung pays special attention to research and developments – in 2007 alone $6.29 Bln were invested in R&D. In 2009, the company will present a wide range of its new developments, including sensor display devices, mobile devices with QWERTY keyboards, high resolution camera phones, light and more compact laser printers, advanced HDTV-technologies. Samsung will also expand its presence in environment-safe models of electronic devices.

CEA awards have been presented since 1976 for the most advanced and perfect models of consumer electronics. CES is the largest and the most representative exhibition of consumer electronics in the world.

Nominees are chosen according to the following criteria:
- technical specifications
- design
- applicability & functionality
- innovations and uniqueness.
