South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has restructured its businesses into two groups, a Device Solution unit, including semiconductors and LCDs, and a Digital Media and Communications unit that will include consumer products such as cellphones and TVs, according to various reports.
Lee Yoon-woo, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, will head the Device Solution unit, and Choi Gee-sung, president of the telecommunications unit, was named as president of Digital Media & Communications, according to a report Friday (Jan. 16) by the Korea Herald.
Hwang Chang-gyu, who led the development of advanced memory chips, quit his post as chief technology officer and president of the corporate technology unit, the Herald reported.
